We Could Totally Live Here - Stanford Valley Guest Farm
The farm is calling and we’re making sure it’s Stanford Valley Guest Farm.
In the heart of winter, we decided to drive down to Stanford for a little time off to work on a writing project. And while we were greeted with rainy days, we were also greeted with the cosy, simple life that naturally resides on the farm. We spent 5 days making friends with horses and sheep, making sure that each morning we hiked around to catch both sunrise and the early morning “Baaa’s” from our fluffy friends. To say that we considered packing up our regular life and moving to the countryside is no exaggeration. This cute farm stay slowed us down and brought such contentment, as we spent evenings lighting fires to keep warm and share the days’ stories. This was definitely a place we’ll always remember, including the delicious meals we shared over candlelight at the manor restaurant. We often ponder back on our peaceful picnics, which there were many, by the dam to catch sunset. And each time we think back, we smile in gratitude thankful that we got to soak up the days here.
What We Loved:
Would it be too vague to say the farm life? But seriously, we loved it.
The cosy and cute cottages that in fact felt quite modern too.
The hiking and biking trails near the dam. Sunsets and sunrises were just wow.
The restaurant food was AMAZING.
The owners are such lovely and friendly people. We loved chatting with them each day.
The spa sauna had the most incredible views that made for the ultimate relaxation.
The cottage has everything you need. From cooking needs to braaing outside on your own patio.
The whole vibe on the farm brings a great sense of contentment.
Hermanus is not too far away if you want to take a drive out. Although, you really don’t need to.
Tips / Recommendations:
Bring shoes you can hike in. The trails are totally worth exploring. The trails aren’t difficult at all so it’s easy enough for kids too.
There are a few restrictions on the sauna usage so just be sure to check them out.
Even though you can make all your own food in your cottage, plan in a dinner at the restaurant. It’s totally worth it.
On your way in or out visit Raka Wine Farm.
There is a Farmstall pretty close by so don’t stress if you didn’t bring everything for cooking.
